The site for this new farm house is in the Cotswold in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Planning Permission restricted its use to an agricultural dwelling, and negotiations with the Planners included a commitment to remove prominent unsightly farm buildings nearly, siting the building away from the skyline, and providing significant areas of new tree planting.  The scale of the building was reduced by setting it into a south west facing hillside, using cut and fill, and putting the bedrooms at first floor within the roof profile, which comes down to low eaves on the main elevation.  The house is occupied by out Client’s son, enabling our Client to remain in his own house (also designed by us) in his retirement.
